Paul G. Haefcke and Red Diamond Capital formed Hammerhead Distribution in October 2003 as a holding company to acquire established, North American distributors of roofing, siding, windows, doors, and other specialized building materials for residential and commercial construction. Hammerhead's philosophy is to retain the individual identities and, to the greatest extent possible, the people of the acquired companies while implementing disciplined management practices and leveraging an administrative infrastructure. Hammerhead targets independent distributors willing to partner with a sophisticated, strategic owner committed to growth with capital backing from the Red Diamond fund and seasoned management supplied by Mr. Haefcke and his executive team.
Hammerhead's initial acquisition was the purchase of Morris Ginsberg &Son, Inc., a Baltimore-based distributor of roofing and building materials.Founded over 75 years ago, the company distributes materials forcommercial, residential, and industrial projects in the Maryland,Washington, DC and Northern Virginia markets. Red Diamond sold Hammerhead in July 2007.
